Contribution supports critical care and services for patients, families managing serious illnesses
PANAMA CITY, Fla. (April 2, 2021)—Hancock Whitney, one of America’s strongest, safest banks, today presented Covenant Care with $5,000 to help carry on the critical care and services the organization provides through a new palliative care center serving patients and families throughout the region.
“As we consider the significance of this Holy Week and Easter Sunday for so many people, we are honored to join with The St. Joe Community Foundation and other local businesses to help Covenant Care bring hope and comfort to people coping with serious illnesses,” said Hancock Whitney Market President Ben Lee. “The specialized treatment, services, and resources coordinated through the Covenant Care palliative care unit can help improve quality of life for patients and reduce the stress they and their families face in managing their conditions. We applaud the Covenant Care team for their commitment to caring for our community.”
Hancock Whitney joins the St. Joe Community Foundation in donating to this critical program.
Covenant Care’s palliative care connects patients and families with a team of specialists—including doctors, nurses, and social workers—who work closely with a patient’s primary doctor and health care providers to give a patient with a serious illness and their family an extra layer of support. Palliative care through Covenant comprises relief from debilitating symptoms; in-depth communication about health care goals and treatment options; improved tolerance for treatments for and side effects of diseases; emotional, practical, and spiritual support; overall improved ability to carry on daily life; referral and coordination of home and hospital care; remote patient monitoring; and 24-hour telephone support.
“This program sets the standard of how healthcare should be delivered,” said Christie Parker, Senior Director of Development, “specific to our patient’s needs and delivered to the place they call home. We are honored to continue to expand the care that we can provide thanks to the generous support of Hancock Whitney. Hancock Whitney has been a wonderful partner to Covenant Care for many years and this support will help us serve more patients in Bay County.”
Most insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid, cover palliative care. To learn more about palliative care, patients can visit www.choosecovenant.org/palliative-care or call 1.855.CARE.365.
